Volunteer Teaching is Not CheapBy esljoblinks I Teaching - Other I 0 comment
I came across a website today that offers people opportunities to teach overseas. This is not unusual, until you add the fact that you have to pay to do it. Initially I was shocked, but after reading into it, I see that it is for only a short period of time (2 to 12 weeks).
With all the places you can go to teach in the world (and get paid, airfare, housing, and medical), it makes me wonder who participates in these types of programs and why. Also, are these locations trying to get full-time teachers or do they have ‘teachers’ coming and going like a revolving door? From looking at the list of cities and countries, I know that there are full time positions available. Why do I get this feeling that the kids are getting the short end of the stick here.
Below is an excerpt of the program information.
